Nothing evokes the image of the Mediterranean more than the sight and produce of the olive tree. Olives and olive oil are the most essential compenents of Montenegro's cuisine, so if you want to know more about the most consumed, organic ingredients in this tiny Balkan nation, do this tour and have your taste buds tantalised!
After pick-up, you will be taken to Lustica – a peninsula that runs between the Adriatic Sea and the Kotor fjord. This area is blessed with rolling green hills that boast countless Mediterranean pine and olive trees, as well as charming hamlets, churches and farm. You will arrive at one such family-run farm that produces local olive oil. The tour starts with a visit to the olive grove where you will enjoy a welcome drink while learning about olive cultivation, harvest and artisan methods of oil production.
You are then led on a walk through Lustica to the village of Tici to compare an old stone olive mill with one of its more modern counterparts. You will then have the opportunity to taste several artisan olive oils – we feel they are best savoured with locally-produced bread and brandy, together with a selection of the season's freshest fruit and vegetables!
With your stomach and palate buzzing with pleasure after such a series of culinary delights, the tour continues with a return to Kotor for a walking tour with your expert guide. Kotor truly is one of the most dazzling jewels in Montenegro's crown and your insightful guided tour will over the most interesting parts of the town, including an exploration of the Cathedral of St. Tryphon. You then have free time to do your own thing in the city
